From Crisis to Healing: Turning Survival into Strength
Israel is facing an ongoing crisis—and the need has never been greater.
Since October 7, 2023, Israelis have endured unimaginable trauma: war, displacement, injury, and profound psychological distress. Hospitals are operating under emergency conditions, while thousands of individuals—children, parents, and soldiers—are struggling with the invisible wounds of trauma.
CHW is responding on all fronts
CHW’s campaign is in support of both urgent, lifesaving medical care and long-term rehabilitation and mental health treatment—because healing Israel requires both immediate action and sustained support.
Saving lives—right now

Beyond the immediate crisis lies a deeper, long-term challenge: trauma.

Shamir Medical Center, home to the largest and most sophisticated hyperbaric treatment center worldwide, is a global leader in the research and treatment of PTSD. Hadassah Hospital's Gandel Rehabilitation Center (GRC)
Psychological Rehabilitation Unit
The spaces and layout of the GRC are intentionally designed to embody the principle of holistic healing. The building’s entire layout promotes human connection and emotional well-being. Every architectural decision is guided by the understanding that healing is a comprehensive process that extends far beyond medical treatments, encompassing emotional, social, and psychological restoration.
CHW’s campaign is funding the new Psychological Rehabilitation Unit (PRU) to support victims of trauma through their long-term journey of recovery. Hadassah Hospital’s new PRU will provide a wide range of psychological rehabilitation treatments for conditions ranging from acute stress disorder and PTSD to depression and adaptation to living with disability.
The PRU will include psychologist and social worker offices in a variety of departments to provide patients with easy access to comprehensive, seamless care that addresses their entire human experience; family rooms where patients can reconnect with loved ones, participate in group activities, and rebuild social support networks crucial to their recovery; purposely placed therapeutic healing gardens to provide patients with restorative outdoor spaces that smooth the lines between medical treatment and natural recovery; and a cognitive treatment room with cutting-edge technology to enhance overall mental health recovery for patients facing neurological challenges, trauma, or stress-related disorders.
