Read this remarkable story about a family whose lives were saved by Hadassah Hospitals’ Endocrinologists.
When a mother brought her daughters to meet with Dr. David Zangen, Director of Pediatric Endocrinology, she never imagined it would lead to groundbreaking research and live-saving discoveries. Her two daughters had not reached puberty although they were at pubescent ages. Dr. Zangen and his team performed gene sequencing and were able to discover that the girls carried that BRCA2 gene, commonly known as the gene mutation associated with breast and ovarian cancer.
This diagnoses and treatment that resulted, helped to restore the girls’ puberty and also saved their mother’s life!
Not only did this save the family, it received positive mention in The New England Journal of Medicine.
