Israel Youth Award 2016
Self-development, hard work, determination, and passion is what the Israel Youth Award is about. This award began 8 years ago in Israel, and over 50 years ago as the International Youth Award in the UK.
Last week, at CHW Hadassim, a special award ceremony was held for recipients of the Bronze and Silver award from WIZO supported youth villages that included CHW Hadassim Children and Youth Village, and CHW Nahalal Youth Village.
In attendance was British Ambassador to Israel, David Quarrey, Mayor of Even Yehuda, Avi Harari, and CEO of the Israel Youth Award, Yossi Friedman.
Mr. David Quarrey, spoke at the ceremony addressing the nearly 200 young recipients and commending their dedication and success at such a young age.
Professor Rivka Lazovsky, Chairperson of World WIZO Executive shared her impressions of the Israel Youth Award saying, “If you want to achieve something, you can, and you can fulfill your dreams.”
In order to receive these awards, each child is responsible for committing a minimum of 5 hours a week to this program. The children participate in community service, personal skill, physical recreation, and a journey that covers distance of 35km.
The recipients of this award are unique children who possess remarkable qualities, especially in the face of major obstacles they have needed to overcome in their lives. Included in the recipients of the award were students from the French Na’aleh Program.
