CHW Toronto Atid Chapter Fundraising Page
Supporting at-risk women and children in Israel and Canada.
About Us:
ATID chapter of Canadian Hadassah WIZO (CHW) – Toronto Centre, is a growing chapter of women in our mid-50s to mid-60s who originally joined together in 1990. Our members include single, divorced, widowed and married women – all sharing a common goal and desire to help those in our own community and in Israel who are less fortunate than ourselves. Dedicated to community service, our chapter fosters and encourages friendship, understanding, and tolerance both within our chapter and throughout our community.
Our programs are a combination of womens’ health, creativity and Jewish topics. Through involvement in our chapter, our members are challenged and motivated, putting to use their personal and professional skills, allowing them to become leaders in all of their pursuits.
We meet monthly, alternating the third Sunday and Monday evenings of the month. Our members live mainly between North York and Richmond Hill. We are focusing this year on our “sisterhood” – to make new members feel welcome, and on our fundraising goals through increasing the reach of our main fundraiser (Passover Tulips), and keeping members engaged and active.
Some successful chapter activities have included:
- Our annual “Literary Levee” in the spring (9 years)
- A drumming circle in 2017
- Chanukah party and springtime shabbat dinner (both vegetarian potluck)
- Passover Tulips (since 2020)
- Hamsa designing, collage-making, bracelet making, pottery
- Babka, challah and hamantaschen baking with donation of Purim bags to the elderly
- Fascinating speakers on Israel affairs, mental health, women’s health and more
- Outings to the Toronto Holocaust Museum and the Toronto Jewish Archives
- Supporting Toronto-wide events with a chapter presence.
Most of all, we meet and connect to have fun, do important charitable work, make new friends and foster existing relationships. We truly are a sisterhood in Atid chapter.
