Guest Speakers

Yaron Waksman
YARON WAKSMAN
CO-FOUNDER & CEO of HAGAL SHELI

Yaron, a passionate ocean enthusiast and dedicated surfer, seamlessly merged his love for surfing with his fervor for education. With over 15 years of experience as a certified surfing instructor and lifeguard, he holds a master’s degree from Tel Aviv University’s Department of Policy and Administration in Education and an official teaching certificate. Additionally, he honed his skills by graduating with distinction from the Center for Empathy in Education and Society at Kibbutzim College Tel Aviv.

Noteworthy accolades adorn Yaron’s journey, including his membership in the Maoz program, participation as an IVLP alum from the US Department of State, and recognition as the Hero of the Year for KESHET. Additionally, he holds the esteemed title of “Yakir Haeir” in Bat Yam and was honored as one of Yediot Ahronot’s “People of the Year” in 2024. Yaron’s philosophy centers on the belief that everyone deserves a second chance. With genuine dedication and investment of time and attention, success becomes attainable for all. He extends an open invitation for others to join HaGal Sheli’s family and partake in their mission.

RONIT SHOVAL-ATUAN,
CEO of EDEN ASSOCIATION

Ronit has been the CEO of Eden Association since 2017, bringing over 25 years of experience in developing and managing programs for youth and women.

She previously served as the Director of the Anti-Drug Authority and the Youth Director of the Social Services Department of Be’er Sheva municipality, where she founded and led several social projects.

Ronit is an expert in trauma therapy and developed the Eden model – a feminist dialectical trauma-focused treatment model. This unique and highly effective model for treating trauma in adolescent girls was developed while she served as the Eden residential care manager during 2007-2017.

Today, Eden is recognized as one of the best therapeutic residences for at-risk youth in Israel. Ronit is busy training professionals to work with this model while expanding the Eden Association’s scope and influence.

Ronit has a BSW and MSW in Social Work and a BA in Behavioral Sciences and Education from Ben-Gurion University. Ronit is also a licensed family and couple therapist and operated her private practice for over 20 years.

Founded by visionary Jewish women in 1917, CHW (Canadian Hadassah-WIZO) is a non-political, non-partisan, national network of dedicated volunteers who believe that excellence and advancement of education, healthcare, and social services transcends politics, religion, and national boundaries.
